Autopilot Display
# 23 10 10
The Autopilot Display is used for selecting and monitoring the various modes:
Heading mode, Track mode,
NAV mode, LAND mode, Hover mode, Anchor mode and - for sailboats - Apparent and True Wind mode, including tack and jibe maneuvers.  Additional modes are available for workboats.

A unique safety feature is the automatic AIS MOB mode. When a crew member drops overboard, the vessel will return automatically to the MOB and stop in front of the personal AIS beacon.

An analog LED-pointer shows rudder angle around the face of the display. The upper half has yellow and red LED's for Autopilot mode indication.

The digital LCD displays actual and selected heading or ground track, apparent or true wind angle, cross track error and distance or course to next way point and selected speed (with engines in Speed mode) as well as thrust information of the entire propulsion system.

The NAV mode is used for en-route navigation: the Autopilot will smoothly track the programmed route of a GPS or plotter with an accuracy of 0.01NM (20m or 65ft).
The LAND mode can be used for narrow approaches in confined waters when an accurate GPS or plotter is available. LAND mode can be selected out of NAV mode and keeps the boat within 0.002NM (4m or 13ft) of the planned track.
An active waypoint can be armed for an automatic stop. The vessel will automatically slow down and enter the GPS-Anchor Mode, when approaching the armed waypoint (electronic throttles required).

On sail boats, hands-off tacks and jibes are executed with utmost precision and elegance in true and apparent wind mode.

Sonic
Heading Gyro
# 91 02 05
Heading Gyro
The Sonic Heading Gyro is the heart of the system. It is a light weight and maintenance free electronic Gyro Compass, manufactured and steadily improved by TECNAUTIC since 1992. Rough seas and rapid motion will not cause errors. The Sonic Heading Gyro is connected either to a display unit or to an electronic steering wheel. The gyro can be slewed to north by a magnetic sensor or a GPS compass or even by a moving GPS antenna. For boat stabilization without navigational information, the gyro can be used without compass, for example in Joystick Mode or in Wind Mode.

$ 430.98  Web price $ 387.88

H2183 Compass
# 91 01 06
Magnetic Heading Sensor:  used to synchronize the Sonic Heading Gyro to north, to avoid long term drifting of the Gyro. Any short term fluctuation of the Magnetic Sensor will not be seen on the Heading Gyro. The H2183 has automatic deviation compensation, and in addition it transmits heel and pitch angles.
$ 804.24   Web price $ 723.82      (incl. cable)

An existing NMEA0183 Compass can also be used instead of the H2183 to slew the gyro

Option: AirmarŪ WX100

# 810304
Ultrasonic Wind Sensor
Option:

The AirmarŪ WX100 Ultrasonic Wind Sensor has no moving parts. Wind Speed and Angle are transmitted by the sensor in NMEA0183 format and are shown on the Cockpit displays.

Mast Cable 50 ft: $ 136.15    Web Price $ 122.53

Autopilot Computer
(Drive Box)
#230100
The Autopilot Computer positions the rudder and eventually activates available thrusters, so as to achieve the desired heading or track of the boat.
It makes use of an already installed Autopilot Rudder Drive or any new rudder drive.
It connects to a CAN-Bus cable with RJ-45 connectors which can be installed with a simple crimp tool, if custom wiring is selected. Standard cables have connectors already fitted.
A reversible rudder motor and its battery are both connected to the Autopilot Computer, or the electric By-Pass-Valve of a linear hydraulic actuator or the electric clutch of a mechanical actuator.
The same Autopilot Computer can drive a non reversing pump and associated switch-over valves or proportional valves for rudders and thrusters.

Two Autopilot Computers can be installed to drive two pumps, either alternating for redundancy, or parallel, in an augmentation mode, where the second pump starts only when a higher rudder speed is needed.

With two independent rudders or Drives, the boxes can produce individual rudder or Drive angles, when required by the operating mode.

Drive Box: $ 845.39   Web price: $ 760.85

ruwi_5.jpg (5138 bytes) Standard Rudder Angle Sensor. The sensor supports direct installation on the joint between linear actuator and rudder arm. Connects electrically to the Autopilot Computer.

$ 188.97   Web price $ 170.07
Option:
Sealed Rudder Angle Sensor
#230003 (instead of standard version # 230006)
All metal design. Connecting rod and ball joints included.

$ 482.92   Web price $ 434.63

An autopilot must be completed with a pre installed or a new autopilot rudder drive. Either mechanical or hydraulic drives may be connected. TECNAUTIC can supply various models of linear actuators and pumps (reversible and continuous running pumps) according our list from leading hydraulic manufacturers. But any other drive will work as well.
The autopilot can work with a slow rudder drive (like 10 seconds from port to starboard). But a faster drive is always preferable. The faster the better, like a human helmsman.

Fly-By-Wire
Steering Wheel

Steering Wheel #231000
$734.88
Web price $661.39

Hover Joystick #23 08 00

Fly-By-Wire Steering-Wheel and Joystick

Operating modes:
Turn-Rate Mode: the steering wheel or Joystick rotation selects the turn rate of the vessel, not the rudder angle. With the wheel in the center detent, the heading will be held. Rudders and available Thrusters are used automatically by the Autopilot.
Servo Mode: rudder position is controlled by the wheel. The rudder follows the wheel movement, same as with a mechanical wheel. This is a simple mode, which does not require a Heading Gyro.
Speed Mode: For fishing, towing or surveying,  select the boat speed or Ground Speed you need.
Hover Mode: The boat will hold its present position by use of engines and thrusters, while a selected heading or wind angle is maintained at the same time.
In Anchor mode the boat's bow or stern seems attached to a virtual buoy (on the GPS), which is set by pressing a button. This mode does not require sideways motion. Anchor or Hover position can be adjusted with the Joystick.
Joystick Mode: Simply move and rotate the Joystick in the direction you want your boat to move. Much easier than the traditional way!

Up to eight Fly-By-Wire Steering Wheels or Joysticks can be connected, up to 200 m / 700 ft apart.

#23 08 00  Hover Joystick  3-axis stand-alone CAN-Bus version $1162.55 Web price $1046.29
